The Well-Rounded Nest
Welcome to the Well-Rounded Nest! 🪶
An Instagram page dedicated to educating and documenting the journey of a third-year Urban Planning student into the world of traditional ecological knowledge.
The etymology of Well-Rounded Nest:
To me, Well-Rounded means complete, multifaceted, thoughtful, layered, ecologically rich, and considered at both micro and macro scales.
Nest is a poetic word I use for the landscape. It felt fitting because the content I explore through traditional ecological knowledge is layered, relational, and less rigid than conventional urban forms, much like the process of creating a nest, carefully layering materials to build a safe, resilient home.
I intend to create thoughtful city plans, informed by understanding the land, collaborating with Indigenous communities, policy changes, and ritual ecosystem shifts.
Expect weekly posts, I’m eager to share what I’ve learned over the past seven weeks!
One more note:
Today is Indigenous Peoples Day. Take a moment to recognize the Indigenous nations whose lands you are on, and honor their ongoing contributions, traditions, and communities.
Feel free to share and comment your thoughts.
